Courtesy of Douglas WadeThe William D. Wickersham WWII Postcard Collection is comprised of 108 postcards depicting locations throughout the United States (Alaska, Washington, North Carolina and New Jersey) and overseas (France and Italy), during the 1940s. Most of the postcards in the collection were never mailed and thus, are blank on the back side. Although lacking in descriptive personal narrative, the collection demonstrates William Wickersham's wishes to document his travel experience as the postcards he collected reflect the locations he was either stationed at or visited during his military leave.
